GRI-22

Untitled Document

Geosynthetics 2009 is honored to host the annual GSI Conference (GRI-22), which will include 2 half-day sessions on Friday, February 27.

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS

The Geosynthetic Research Institute (the research arm of the Geosynthetic Institute) conferences have been theme oriented since their inception. Topics were selected by the membership and generally followed application areas that were established and in need of further investigation, or were emerging to the point where information was considered timely. This conference is diff erent; it is all about technology transfer. We freely admit that even in the information age details are oft en missing or not fully communicated. Such detail can have great influence on the system performance as a whole. As will be seen, both new and old applications will be investigated. In viewing the twenty five (25) papers in this conference; there are perhaps six categories:

• Materials                •Equipment
• Manufacturing       • Design
• Installation             •QA/QC

As most people in the geosynthetics area are well aware, the flexibility and adaptability of geosynthetics with respect to many applications is a hallmark of the technology. This conference will further propel this realization that standardized details can be shared and systems utilizing geosynthetics will have great benefit at low cost. It promises to be a practical event which will bring to light many nuisances that will prove to be gems to many in the future.
